AJM working meeting with camera operators on the topic: “Security through the prism of the existing legal framework”



With presence of over 30 participants, the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) held meeting with the camera operators from the AJM Camera Operators Section on the topic “Media Freedom and Security of Media Workers in RNM through the Prism of the Existing Legal Framework – How to Achieve Better Solutions?”

Mladen Chadikovski, the President of AJM, addressed the audience and expressed his satisfaction by emphasizing that “With such initiatives and projects we strive to improve the institutional dialogue between journalists, camera operators, civil society organizations and national parliaments in order to raise awareness of immediate changes that will be positively reflected in the process of European integration of the candidate countries. Through such mutual consultations and discussions, we will contribute to creating environment for significant participation of media workers as influential actors in society.”

Trajche Ilievski, the representative of the camera operators’ section at AJM in his short address to colleagues expressed his satisfaction with such working meetings where they can share and hear in one place their challenges and suggestions for improving the cooperation and working conditions for both camera operators and correspondents.

The key findings from the conducted analysis entitled “Freedom of the media and the safety of journalists in RNM through the prism of existing legal solutions – How to achieve better solutions?” were presented at the meeting. The event was followed by discussion where attendees had the opportunity to express their opinions and suggestions how to achieve better legal solutions for improvement of the safety of journalists and media workers, and improvement of the legal solutions that regulate issues in the media sphere.

The event was organized on Friday, June 4, 2021, within the regional project “Improving the dialogue between journalists’ associations and parliaments in the Western Balkans for a stronger civil society sector”, funded by Sida through the project “Protecting Civic Space – Regional Civil Society Development Hub” implemented by the Balkan Civil Society Development Network (BCSDN).
